New research highlights rising digital violence against women across Europe
The Women’s Online Wellbeing (WOW) project has been featured in a recent article published by Northumbria University, highlighting growing concern about digitalised violence against women and the urgent need for robust, Europe-wide research into online harms, wellbeing and support.
The article introduces the aims of the WOW project and outlines how advances in technology have transformed the nature and scale of violence experienced by women online, including harassment, threats, image-based abuse and emerging forms such as deepfakes. It also emphasises the importance of interdisciplinary research in understanding both the impact of digital violence and the support needs of those affected.
Further news, blogs and project updates will be shared here as the research progresses.
If you have experienced any form of digitalised violence or feel affected by these issues, information about advice and support is available in this website’s Help & Support section.
